Commentary

Lange, Bastian (2019): Labs – Places of hope? In: Creative City Berlin Magazin.

Everyone is talking about digitization. It is often overlooked here that Berlin has become a diversified experimental laboratory in the form of FabLabs, open workshops, real laboratories or repair cafés since the last few years – combining experimental craftsmanship (“low tech”) with the latest technologies (“high tech”). This is where young creators come in and transport an alternative understanding of growth as consumption and production reach their limits. Now it is also necessary to support these places politically.
